Biography: Charmaine exudes empathy, compassion, and determination in helping abuse survivors reclaim their voices allowing them to move from isolation to inclusion. She is well-liked and respected by her peers and is often sought for guidance. A devoted mother of 2 teenagers, Charmaine is a community leader and dynamic advocate for children, youth, and families impacted by childhood abuse. Charmaine recently led and tabled a legislative petition this May called "Loverin's Law," a public petition in collaboration with up to 2000 signatures of support from the community, mental health workers and organizations, students and educators, and was formally introduced to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario on one vision; to create a law that all Ontario Schools implement an Annual Awareness Week for Abuse Prevention Charmaine has had a positive influence on the lives of those she has provided support to. Diagnosed very sadly with ALS, Charmaine continues to go above and beyond to help the vulnerable community, who are often struggling with addictions, mental health, and suicidal ideation. Charmaine is a force to be reckoned with, beating all odds with one vision, "a world where all children are educated, empowered and unharmed and all human beings live with love and peace in their hearts" #nooneleftbehind
