Biography:

Natalie Kwan was a sophomore at Cornell University in the US when COVID-19 hit, causing an abrupt stoppage to her studies, forcing her to leave the US before they shut down the border. She came to Toronto due to our welcoming policy to Hong Kongers. Kwan was uncertain of what her future would look like when university dorms decided to close indefinitely. With a backpack, $500 in her bank account, and no local ties at the time. She has been calling Canada her home since, forfeiting $150000 need based scholarship and an ivy league degree.

Kwan completed her bachelor degree in Toronto and is working on her Masters degree in Teaching at U of T.

Natalie has been working full time as a boarding advisor, on evenings plus weekend; to finance the high living cost of Toronto, and to fund her full time study at U of T.

Kwan is grateful to the opportunity Canada has given her, determined to take action to give back, despite working in 2 full time positions simultaneously.

Natalie is the Founding Executive Director of Music for Every Child, a youth-led registered charity. Kwan is the only adult on the team, now 24 years old, coaching 250+ high school and middle school student volunteers, providing free weekly music therapy sessions to 30 schools in 5 cities.

Kwan has been award a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award from the Federal Government and a City of Mississauga Civic Award of Recognition, for her work in Music for Every Child.
