Rosario Vega

Rosario Vega is a Professional Choreographer and Cultural Dancer, Dance Instructor and Fashion Designer. She is the founder and CEO of Root of my Land and the Peruvian Canadian Heritage Association which is a non-profit organization that works for diverse communities across Canada. Rosario started to dance when she was 5 years old, the beautiful Peruvian folk dance, "Marinera" in which she became the Cultural Ambassador since moving to Canada 18 years ago. She wants to encourage self-expression and for every young girls and women to embrace their own uniqueness. Her accomplishments includes the clothing fashion label "Rosred Fashion" which was one of the highlights at both Mississauga Fashion Week and Halton Fashion Week, and will also be participating at this month's upcoming Brampton Fashion Week on July 20th. She trains models for beauty pageants such as, Miss Canada Latina and Miss Universe Canada. Some of her designs were also featured in other countries like, Mexico, Dominican Republic, China and the U.S.A. She is a member of the Mississauga Arts Council and has been nominated for established Beauty and Fashion category. She supports the Latin community by teaching dance and modelling, and participating with her students in different cultural events. She is the current Director of the Peru Pavilion at the Carassauga Festival of Cultures. Rosario believes in sharing and learning from each other's cultures by attending cultural events and exploring illustrious traditions, their foods, outfits, and dances (Belly, Flamenco, Kathak, Salsa, Merenge and African dance) to name a few. Rosario's love and passion for Arts and Culture also prompted her to promote tourism in Canada and was televised all over the country, she is also passionate about photography and partly-owns the Latino Oye Magazine. She believes that living in a multicultural country like Canada is a gift that we must cherish and be grateful for. To help others achieve their goals and believe in themselves. Her own personal belief is: Powerful role models inspire and empower young girls and women to realize and fulfill their dreams.
